It's a well - known fact that steel balls produced by different equipment and through different processes vary significantly. Take casting steel balls as an example. Just from a visual inspection, there are remarkable differences between manually - poured casting steel balls and those produced on the production line, as shown in the figure below.
For high - chromium casting steel balls, quenching is carried out to enhance their hardness and wear resistance, while tempering is essential to relieve internal stress and prevent breakage. Therefore, to produce wear - resistant and unbreakable casting steel balls, these processes are indispensable, as illustrated in the following figure.
